KEIM XSulation-STAR MW (only permissible with the components listed in the appendix)
External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems (ETICS) make a decisive contribution to reducing energy consumption and thus CO2-emissions from buildings. The so-called "Grey Energy" of an ETICS - the energy required for its production - is typically amortised after just a few years of operation; from that point onwards, the system makes a net positive constribution to climate protection. At the same time, ETICS create an important prerequisite for the efficient use of low-temperature heating systems such as heat pumps, as they enable low heating flow temperatures and stables surface temperatures on the inside.
In parallel, the environmental impact of facade systems is increasingly coming into focus. In particular, the use of biocidal film preservatives in renders and coatings is viewed critically, because these active substances must be leachable in order of work - with the consequence that they not only lose effectiveness over time, but also enter the environment.
The KEIM XSulation-Star MW system therefore deliberately relies on a building-physics-based, mineral approach without biocidal film preservatives. It ist based on a non-combustible mineral wool ETICS with a predominantly mineral render build-up and a specially matched finishing coat. The objective is to limit moisture exposure at the facade survace and to accelerate drying, so that the conditions for algae and fungal growth are significantly worsened.
At the heart of the system is the KEIM Twinstar principle: a compact, vapour-permeable render and coating structure that reduces moisture ingress, can temporarily absorb moisture and then quickly releases it back to the environment. This shortens the periods during which dew films or moisture-loaded surfaces are present. The facade remains predominatly dry and offers microorganisms far less opportunity to colonise - entirely without the use of leachable biocides. Depending on the specific projekt and colour design, the KEIM Twinstar finishing system can also enable colour tone warranties of up the 20 years, which underlines the long-term stability and durability of the facade appearance.
KEIM XSulation-Star MW thus combines the advantages of a non-combustible mineral wool ETICS with durable, environmentally responsible moisture management and high colour stability. The system meets stringent requirements in terms of fire safety, long-term performance and design flexibility. By reducing algae and fungal growth through its constructive and building-physics concept - rahter than through chemical additives - and by enabling energy-efficient, low-temperature building operation, KEIM XSulation-Star MW supports both the environmental and climate protection objectibes unterpinning the BLUE ANGEL.
