Produkt- bzw. CO2e (Kohlendioxidäquivaltent)-Kennzeichnungen tragen dazu bei, die Nutzung klimafreundlicher Alternativen zu fördern. Im Zuge der methodischen Weiterentwicklung bestehender Umweltzeichen, wie dem Blauen Engel, wurde überprüft, ob künftig quantitative Informationen auf der Grundlage des Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) und des Water Footprint systematisch einzubeziehen sind.
