Whether it is in the home or the office, energy-efficient devices help to save electricity and thus costs. Although the EU energy label is now available for many larger electrical appliances such as fridges, washing machines or dishwashers, this label does not cover a lot of smaller household devices.

The Blue Angel environmental label is used to indicate energy-saving kettles, coffee machines and hair dryers. Yet durability and repairability are also particularly important for electrical devices because the energy and resources consumed during the production of the devices is very high. Therefore, the Blue Angel requires that products have replaceable batteries, a good availability of spare parts, additional warranties, updates and enhancement options so that they can be used for as long as possible.

In the case of devices that work using electromagnetic radiation, such as mobile and household telephones, the Blue Angel sets demanding limits that go above and beyond the legal requirements.
