What are wood pellets?
Wood pellet fuel is a biomass fuel with a neutral impact on the climate. Wood pellets are made from pressed sawdust and shavings. They do not contain any chemical binders and they have a high energy density. The energy of two kilograms of wood pellets is roughly equal to that of one litre of fuel oil. Wood pellets achieve high combustion efficiency and low emissions. Wood Pellet Stoves (DE-UZ 111) and Wood Pellet Boilers (DE-UZ 112) feature much lower carbon-monoxide and dust concentrations than other solid-fuel heating systems. The Survey on Wood Pellet Heating Systems (Source: UBA III 1.3) lists the Blue Angel requirements.
