power strip with master/slave switching
Is it really OFF?
The annual standby power consumption of appliances in private households is about 400 kWh. Appliances can be separated from the electric circuit by the use of power strips – and till then they are often not "really off". But in everyday life people often forget to also turn off the power strip itself. This can be avoided by using a power strip with master/slave switching to which one main device (master) and several additional devices (slaves) can be connected. When switching off the master device the slave devices are completely disconnected from the mains as well, thus cutting their standby losses to zero.
Benefits to the Environment
- minimizing standby losses
- low own power consumption
- avoiding environmentally harmful materials
