Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU)
The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) is the owner of the Blue Angel and thus carries a high level of responsibility when it comes to using the label for providing reliable product information. It promotes the Blue Angel to the public, companies and associations, as well as within the political arena. In the course of interdepartmental government agreements, such as in the area of public procurement, the BMUB endorses greater consideration of the Blue Angel environmental label.
The Federal Environment Minister defines the basic criteria for awarding the environmental label and appoints the members of the Environmental Label Jury in agreement with the Environmental Ministers for the German federal states. Furthermore, the BMU also has an advisory role (without its own voting rights) for the Environmental Label Jury.
