The Blue Angel sets standards for the protection of our climate
At its meeting of April 28-29, 2009 in Berlin the Environmental Label Jury has adopted the first new Blue Angel eco-labels for climate-relevant, energy-efficient products. The Blue Angel is awarded to energy-efficient and environmentally friendly espresso machines, electric kettles, cooling and freezing equipment, washing machines, small portable computers (so-called netbooks), gas cookers and gas-fired cooking equipment, power strips with master/slave switching as well as thermal insulation composite systems.
The most important criterion for award of the Blue Angel eco-label is an energy consumption that is markedly lower than that of conventional products. In addition, the future Blue Angel-labelled appliances must meet exacting requirements with respect to the other environment-related properties too.
